- Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
- Architect and maintain server-side applications using Node.js
- Model and optimize relational databases (Postgres/SQL), including schema design and query performance tuning
- Build and improve features within a modern React-based frontend (Remix, Next.js, or similar)
- Develop and maintain infrastructure in AWS (Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, RDS, IAM, etc.)
- Manage cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK)
- Improve system scalability, caching strategies, and overall performance
- Contribute to product direction and technical decision-making in a small, high-impact team
- Occasionally collaborate cross-functionally and support customer-facing discussions when needed Required Skills/experience:
- Strong backend experience with Node.js and server-side application design

This is a hybrid role and candidates should expect to be onsite three days a week.

The Planet Group has partnered with a Boston area company to locate a full-stack developer with strong backend Node.js skills for a full-time role. This is a hybrid role and candidates should expect to be onsite three days a week. The ideal candidate will be a Senior Engineer who thrives in early-stage environments and enjoys building meaningful products from the ground up. This role is ideal for an engineer who is strongest on the backend but comfortable contributing to modern frontend applications. You’ll play a key role in shaping the architecture and feature development of a high-impact SaaS platform, working closely with a small, collaborative engineering team. This is a hands-on position with high ownership, direct product influence, and significant technical autonomy.
