Public Realm and Street Activation (PRSA) Support (CSA II)

The Position
Job Appointment: Casual, Part-Time
Role Duration: This role will be active through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.
Work Schedule: This role will average 20-40 hours per week with flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. There will be some evening and weekend meetings.
NOTE: This is Community Service Aide (CSA) II position with a maximum of 1,400 hours in a calendar year
Work Location: This role will report to The Portland Building, 1120 SW 5th Ave, Portland, OR 97204 for in-person work . There will also be opportunities for hybrid work at various locations within the City based on events schedule.

About The Position
The Public Realms and Street Activation (PRSA) Program, part of the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), is hiring for the role of Summer PRSA Suppo rt (Community Service Aide II). Our team is looking for a dynamic candidate that is eager to help us build our capacity to do this important work. This role primarily assists with seasonal community events. These events include block parties, play streetsand other projects in the Public Realm and Street Activation (PRSA) Program. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn new skills and build community.
Role
What You Will Get to Do in This Role:
The PRSA Support (CSA II) position’s focus will be supporting the Block Party program. This beloved City program coordinates and facilitates almost 1,000 block parties each season. This role will support the creation and management of public spaces and street plazas in the right of way in the Transportation Planning Division. In addition, the PRSA Support role will assist with related tasks, including but not limited to the following:

Block Party permitting
Program evaluation
Data collection
Community engagement
Additional Responsibilities May Include

Developing written content such as newsletter content, website updates, reports, and policy memos.
Supporting public involvement activities such as scheduling meetings, outreach, and communication.
With supervision, assisting with research, analysis, and compilation of case studies under the direction of a team member.
Assisting with graphic design, mapping, and other visual communication methods to convey research and analysis results.
Assisting with on-site and online setup for public engagement and public space deployment.
