- The Director of Business Development is responsible for defining and executing the organization’s growth strategy through new business acquisition, strategic partnerships, and market expansion.
- This role owns business development planning, pipeline health, and team performance while working closely with executive leadership, sales, marketing, and delivery teams.
- The Director balances hands-on deal involvement with leadership, forecasting, and long-term growth initiatives.
- Define and execute the business development strategy aligned with company growth objectives
- Establish target markets, ideal customer profiles, and go-to-market priorities
- Own new-business pipeline development, forecasting, and performance reporting
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and expansion opportunities
- Set revenue and pipeline goals and ensure consistent execution against targets Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop business development managers and team members
- Establish structured prospecting, qualification, and opportunity-management processes
- Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and success metrics
- Coach team members on consultative selling, executive communication, and deal strategy
- Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, and team scaling plans New Business Acquisition & Deal Strategy
- Drive acquisition of net-new clients and strategic accounts
- Engage directly in high-value, complex, or strategic sales opportunities
- Support deal structuring, pricing strategy, and negotiation for key opportunities
- Ensure smooth handoff from business development to sales and account teams
- Maintain executive-level relationships with key prospects and partners Market Presence & Strategic Relationships
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and executive forums
- Build and maintain relationships with senior decision-makers and strategic partners
- Identify and develop partnership opportunities that support growth initiatives
