The Awty International School is an independent, not for profit, co-educational, college preparatory day school enrolling 1800 students from Preschool through 12th grade. The School is located in the Spring Branch/Galleria area of Houston, the 4th largest city in the United States.
Description: The Director of Educational Technology leads the strategic integration of technology into teaching and learning across all divisions and academic programs. This is a pedagogy and learning design role which operationalizes Awty's Digital Fluency & Ethical Practice Framework, drives the development of digital fluency (including AI and data literacy), and governs the school's educational technology portfolio. The Director of Educational Technology supervises the Digital Learning Coaches, leads professional development, supports the edtech strategy and policy, and works closely with the Director of IT to align educational and technical priorities.
Reports to: Chief Innovation and Engagement Officer
Works collaboratively with: Teachers, Students, Instructional Coaches, Leadership, Coordinators, Director of IT and Information Systems, the IT team, and Parents.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with educational technology specialisation/certifications.
Experience designing, delivering, and coordinating technology workshops and training for students, teachers, and leadership in a K-12 school.
Classroom teacher experience in a K–12 independent or international school setting.
Demonstrated success in leading technology integration at a school-wide level.
Demonstrated experience evaluating, selecting, and governing educational technology and AI tools, and leading AI literacy initiatives, integrating AI tools into teaching and learning within a K-12 setting.
Comprehensive Apple ecosystem knowledge (iOS, macOS), skilled in 1:1 iPad and MacBook implementations and apps for learning & creation (Apple Classroom, iMovie, Garageband, etc.)
High level of competency with Student Information and Learning Management Systems (e.g. Powerschool, Blackbaud, Schoology, ManageBac, Toddle, Seesaw), Learning Management Systems, Google Workspace for Education, and Microsoft Office 365.
Demonstrated data literacy, including experience with data warehouses, dashboard tools (Looker), and Google Workspace for Education ecosystem (Gemini, AppSheets).

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree in a related field
Bilingual in French or Spanish
Experience with the International Baccalaureate Programmes (PYP, MYP, DP)
Experience with the French National Curriculum and French Baccalauréat

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of professional development that builds digital fluency and ethical use of technology capacity across students, faculty, and leadership.
Oversee the school-wide implementation of Awty's Digital Fluency & Ethical Practice Framework (ISTE, Common Sense, DigComp 2.2/PIX, Awty's AI Policy and Guidelines).
Supervise the Digital Learning Coaches, aligning coaching priorities with the Digital Fluency & Ethical Practice Framework and school-wide technology and teaching & learning goals.
Supports and executes the ongoing revision of the school's educational technology strategy in alignment with the school's vision and strategic objectives.
Partner with academic leaders and faculty to ensure consistent, developmentally appropriate integration of educational technology.
Oversee the approved AI tool portfolio (Flint, Gemini for Teens, NotebookLM, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Perplexity)
Support the faculty's use of the school's academic data dashboard to access real-time student data to plan instruction
Partner with the Director of IT and Information Systems to ensure infrastructure supports the Digital Fluency & Ethical Practice Framework.
Ensure academic data quality across all programmes, with data infrastructure owned by the Director of IT and Information Systems.
Stay current with research and trends in educational technology and learning sciences, translating emerging insights into actionable strategies.
Participate in observations and instructional rounds with the whole school pedagogical leadership team to determine Educational Technology priorities and support
Serve as a member of the Technology and Digital Resources Committee (TDRC).
Communicate Awty's vision for digital fluency and ethics to parents and the broader school community.
Maintain an active presence in the educational technology community.
