- Position Summary: The Transport Specialist will perform daily activities of making assigned specimen pickups per established departmental guidelines for the logistics department.
- This is the entry level in the Logistics job category and employees perform the full range of procedures related to the delivery of all supplies, reports and related materials to the route customer as requested.
- Drives a vehicle to pick-up, deliver, and properly store specimens and other materials with assigned route or on as needed basis
- Demonstrates and promotes a positive image and communicates effectively to clients, employees and the public in general
- Perform route audits and quality assurance checks of samples
- Maintain knowledge of multiple routes to back up assigned drivers
- Communicates appropriately with clients, coworkers and time general public
- Ensures all specimens are collected accurately and on time
- Maintains required records and documentation of all items received and delivered
- Reports on time to work, following attendance guidelines
- Keeps vehicle area neat and clean; Disposes of biohazard containers when scheduled
- Service vehicles driven, such as checking fluid levels and replenishing fuel; retains and submits all fuel receipts and fuel maintenance logs to the Logistics Supervisor or lead on a weekly basis
- Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and uniform policies, appearing neat and clean at all times
- Assists Accessioning with incoming specimens throughout the day
- Other duties as assigned by Logistics Manager or Logistics Supervisor/Lead Education, Experience and Qualifications

Requirements
- 1+ years previous driving experience preferred.

- Ability to move and lift 50 pounds and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
- Good customer service skills required
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel desired
- Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual
Preferred Skills
- 1+ years previous driving experience preferred.
- Prior medical courier experience and prior customer service experience preferred.
