- Certification & Licensure
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, of the neurology system.
- Knowledge of electro neurologic testing and associated equipment.
- Knowledge of acute care setting, performing electro encephalogram (EEG) procedures on infant, pediatric and adult patients.
- Demonstrated familiarity with TJC (The Joint Commission) accreditation standards.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.
- Must be able to understand, read and write the English language.
- Must be able to type a minimum of 55 wpm
- Ability to work around strong smells (i.e. collodion, acetone, bleach, hospital cleaner)
- Ability to work with patients with special needs or altered level of consciousness.
- Ability to work alone or with a team, ensuring ongoing communication between coworkers and shifts.
- Must possess patience to untangle electrode wires and keep cords neat on the back of EEG machines.
- Ability to work with multiple personality types, remaining professional.
- Knowledge of 10/20 electrode placement, and ability to attach leads accurately.
- Follows standard precautions per hospital policy.
- Maintains EEG/Electrophysiology (EP) equipment in good working order.
- Ability to multitask despite interruptions with accuracy

Performs non-invasive cortical neurophysiological testing with minimal supervision, in accordance with physician's orders and historical information. Testing includes inpatient electroencephalogram (EEG) testing in all areas of the hospital including neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) /intensive care unit (ICU), WADA (intracarotid sodium amobarbital procedure), and outpatient testing including routine and ambulatory. May also be asked to provide break relief for staff at the monitor station. Works with all age groups.
