Responsibilities

On the Research Assistant team at Inside Higher Ed, you'll support clinical and cohort research by scheduling and contacting study participants, preparing and processing questionnaires and regulatory documents, and maintaining all study forms, consent documents, subject logs, and correspondence. You will assist with screening, recruiting, interviewing participants, administering and scoring standardized questionnaires and tests, and performing data abstraction, coding, quality checks, and case report form completion. You’ll also handle specimen preparation and shipping, manage equipment and supplies, process participant compensation and thank-you letters, and assist with post-study activities as needed.

Commitments

In this full-time, hybrid-eligible Research Assistant role supporting the Hsing Lab’s NIH-funded Asian American Cohort at Inside Higher Ed, you’ll contact participants to schedule and remind them of clinic visits, prepare study materials and specimen kits, enter data, receive and transport samples, coordinate post-visit communications and incentives, design outreach materials, and perform administrative tasks for study meetings. The position requires being a flexible team player in a changing environment, complying with safety and university policies, potentially working around hazardous materials and on extended or unusual hours, and meeting certain physical demands (including occasional lifting up to 40 pounds or more). Requirements
  • Experience in either a Clinical Research or Life Science research environment.
  • Team player with the flexibility to work in an ever-changing environment.
  • Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • General knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Working toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.
  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
  • Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in either a Clinical Research or Life Science research environment.
  • Fluent in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Hindi is a plus.
  • Degree in biological sciences or related field preferred.
