- Participate in the preparation of layout work required for the paving of streets, alleys, sidewalks, parking lots and related structures.
- Participate in the running of levels, lines and setting of grades for sidewalks, streets, alleys sewer mains, and water mains.
- Inspect the work of contractors on municipal construction projects and enforce adherence to plans and specifications.
- Be familiar with the operation of surveying and engineering equipment as required.
- Participate in the performance of preliminary surveys for such engineering projects as
- streets, alleys, sewer and water mains, buildings, and other public improvements.
- Respond to citizen complaints and concerns regarding streets, sewers, sidewalks and the water system.
- Ensure that appropriate action is taken.
- Assist in the preparation of plans for municipal engineering projects.
- Assist in creating contract documents for the construction of municipal engineering projects
- Be familiar with AutoCad computer aided design/ drafting software and perform miscellaneous drafting as required.
- Make blueprints, draw maps, plans and sketches from field notes and preliminary sketches.
- Generate and maintain accurate engineering records and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Field conditions which consist of unpaved sites, muddy, dusty areas and potential dangerous environment.
Ability to kneel, stoop, sit, or stand for long periods of time.
