Requirements

  • Submit proof of multilingual competence or study.
  • This can include classes on your transcript (at least 200 level language class at Wesleyan), proof of citizenship from a non-English speaking country, a certificate of biliteracy or other similar certification of bilingualism, or a testimony from a professor at Wesleyan that speaks that language.
  • Submit at least two works that represent the writing skillset you would bring to the position.
  • At least one piece should demonstrate how you are sensitive to multilingualism and global issues.
Preferred Skills
  • Leadership experience
  • Teaching or mentoring experience
  • Experience as a tutor or mentor through the Wesleyan Writers Room or Wes Multilingual Community Tutors
  • Previous experience collaborating with global engagement departments such as the Fries Center for Global Studies, the Albritton Center, or the Office of International Student Affairs
  • Consideration for this role is limited to a graduating Wesleyan Student or Wesleyan alumnus/alumna.
  • Submit proof of multilingual competence or study.
  • It may include written proposals or papers, technical writing, promotional or social media copy, poetry, fiction writing, etc.
Education
  • (Not required) – The Multilingual Writing Fellowship is a one-year post-graduate position open to graduating Wesleyan students and Wesleyan alumni.
  • (Not required) – Bachelor’s degree
  • (Not required) – Demonstrated proficiency in at least one language in addition to English
