- The Program Leader (PL) works closely with the PC to develop curriculum and activities for the classroom.
- The PL is familiar with and adheres to licensing regulations, and works with children in a 15:1 ratio; this includes assisting with homework, group activities, recess, and serving snacks.
- Work with children ages 5-12 in an after-school program using PBIS.
- Work with children in a 15 to 1 ratio, assisting with homework and structured group activities as well as supervising free choice and recess.
- Work with the Program Coordinator to develop curriculum and plan lessons and activities for the classroom.
- Actively participate in team meetings.
- Ensure that the site is adequately prepared for children to arrive.
- Communicate with parents at drop off and pick up about specifics of each child’s day.
- Become familiar with and adhere to licensing regulations for the program and school rules and requirements.
- Assist the Program Coordinator with turning in payments and paperwork to the admin office and maintain compliance with licensing rules.
- Professionally collaborate with members of the site as well as other Neighborhood House sites
- Help the program coordinator create and maintain behavior plans when needed.
- Help train new staff by reviewing expectations with them and coaching them through their first weeks.
- Respond to emails, phone calls and other communication from supervisors and colleagues in a timely and professional manner.
- Obtain 24 hours of training each licensing year and submit to ORO.
- Aid program coordinator in overseeing and training other teachers.
- Assume responsibility for the program in the absence of the Program Coordinator.
Commitments
Status: 30 hours per week, part-year*, benefits eligible
Location: Floating between 4 sites located in N and NE Portland (mileage reimbursement available)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:30am - 6pm.
During PPS scheduled in-service days, we operate full-day camps and need staff coverage for various shifts between 7:30am - 6pm.
Work hours during school breaks (Spring, Fall, Winter, and Summer Camps) are not guaranteed and are dependent on enrollment and program needs.
The current School Year Program runs August 18, 2025 – June 12, 2026.
About Neighborhood House
