- monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Manage cash flow and liquidity [daily cash monitoring, payment approvals, and working capital optimization]
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial schedules prepared by team members
- Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and scenario analysis
- Prepare and present monthly management reporting packages, including variance commentary, KPIs, and insights
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data, drive cost discipline, and support business initiatives.
- Lead the annual budget cycles, develop assumptions, align priorities, and track performance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors preparing audit documentation
- Identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and better decision support.
- Manage special projects related to financial analysis, business performance, system implementation, process improvement
- Lead a small finance team to deliver accurate and timely results ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX internal control requirements Requirements

Requirements
- CPA or equivalent certification required; public accounting experience strongly preferred
- 5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, ideally within a public company environment
- 2+ years of management experience
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and consolidation including intercompany processes
- Experience partnering with Big 4 audit firms
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
- Experience managing multiple business units overseeing financial operations, cost accounting, strategic planning and reporting
- QAD, Netsuite, Great Plains, Oracle Hyperion, FCCS, or similar financial consolidation tools
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate financial insights for non-finance stakeholders AMGUARD Environmental, an American Vanguard company, values our employees and their families.

Business Unit Controller Location: Raleigh NC (Morrisville, NC) Our Specialty Products business unit, AMGUARD Environmental, has a unique opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented Business Unit Controller to join our team in Morrisville, NC. This position reports to the VP Finance and will oversee Accounting and Finance operations for American Vanguard’s ' AMGUARD Environmental Products ' business unit. This individual will be the key Finance Business Partner to our Specialty Business President and manage several separate businesses each with their own P&L. The Controller will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
