Requirements
  • A strong understanding of governmental accounting including governmental activities and business-type activities is desired.
  • Requires four (4) years' experience in financial management including two (2) years high level supervisory and administrative experience.
  • Special Certifications and Licenses
  • None.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of finance, including accounting principles, financial reporting, accounts payable processes, financial calculations, business terminology/practices, and applicable business law.
  • Thorough knowledge of all federal, state and local regulatory requirements, as well as Government Accounting Standards Board requirements applicable to financial management and reporting.
  • Thorough knowledge of the funding process in a municipal environment as related to budgeting, cost accounting, financial planning and management.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of supervision, organization and administration.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and coordinate administrative programs.
Preferred Skills
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Fraud Examiner
  • Monthly financial close process management experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Peoplesoft experience
Education
  • (Not required) – Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in finance, accounting or related field.
  • (Required) – (One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)
  • (Not required) – Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or related field
