Requirements
  • Water level monitoring equipment and water well pumping systems.

  • Using computer hardware and applicable software applications.
  • Collecting, organizing, and entering data into Excel spreadsheets.
  • Operating and troubleshooting a variety of pumps, motors, valves, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Operating and transporting (including backing up) a high-volume air compressor and a forklift.
  • Collecting water samples and water level pressure data
  • Communication, and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
  • Experience: Two years of related work experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude or two years of related field experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • License or Certificate: A valid California Class “C” Driver’s License is required.

  • Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
  • Required to wear personal protective clothing/equipment appropriate for job assignments.
  • Must comply with CAL OSHA Safety Regulations.
  • Incumbents require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting; stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; operate o?ce equipment including the use of a computer keyboard; push, pull, lift, and/or carry light amounts of weight; verbally communicate to exchange information.
  • Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.
  • Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • All Orange County Water District employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).
  • Employees are required to complete all related training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
  • Do you have at least two (2) years of related work experience in groundwater monitoring practices, operating and maintaining water distribution systems, or operating and developing water wells?
  • Do you currently hold a valid California Water Distribution Certification Grade D-2 or higher?
  • This position requires to be on call for emergencies during normal off-duty hours on a rotational basis.
Preferred Skills
  • Do you have at least two (2) years of related work experience in groundwater monitoring practices, operating and maintaining water distribution systems, or operating and developing water wells?
Education
  • (Not required) – Education/Training: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree.
