Requirements
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of fundamentals of design and implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of front- / back-end web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and other relevant programming languages to build/maintain the Department of Surgery’s 100+ websites.
  • Advanced ability to implement UX/UI design principles to create intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing websites.
  • Strong Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing skills to improve site visibility, ranking/user engagement through data-driven strategies.
  • Expertise on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 and compliance to ensure digital content meets the Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance.
  • Advanced understanding of technical language and assignment requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage web security, including data encryption, firewalls and secure authentication to protect sensitive information.
  • Expert troubleshooting/problem-solving skills to quickly identify/resolve technical issues, ensuring optimal site performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital communication media, including content management systems and/or relevant web applications used for website production/organization-specific computer application programs.
  • Proficiency in content management systems, e.g.
  • Drupal Content Management System, ensuring effective content updates and site management.
  • Advanced skills in website analytics/performance monitoring using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console to track user engagement and optimize site functionality.
  • Advanced technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing/design, illustration, presentation, preparation, animation, web interaction and/or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities.
  • Advanced ability to develop/implement digital marketing strategies, e.g., email campaigns, social media integration and multimedia content.
  • Proficiency in web-based project management tools like Asana or Jira to simultaneously plan, execute and track progress on multiple web initiatives.
  • Advanced understanding of the organization's processes, procedures and applicable rules/regulations for web communication.
  • Expert in complying with institutional branding guidelines/regulations for digital communications.
  • Ability to align website and digital communication strategies with departmental policies/objectives to ensure consistency/effectiveness.
  • Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its achievements, goals, objectives, vision and mission, and how digital communication can effectively convey/advance the message to audiences.
  • Ability to craft digital content strategies reflecting the mission and objectives of the Department of Surgery, ensuring impactful messaging.
  • Experience collaborating with faculty, researchers and staff to develop web content that enhances outreach/engagement with target audiences.
  • Advanced skill to monitor and assess processes/services and make necessary improvements.
  • Expertise in conducting regular audits and performance reviews of web platforms to identify areas of improvement and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Ability to implement iterative web development methodologies to enhance website functionality/user experience.
  • Advanced skills to complete projects within budget/time constraints.
  • Experience managing website redesign projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, timeline and budget constraints.
  • Advanced skills in interpersonal communication, political acumen, and troubleshooting and applying proactive/positive solutions.
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders across departments, translating technical requirements into accessible/actionable plans.
  • Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts related to digital communication strategies, ensuring team consensus/collaboration.
