- Proven experience performing GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- Demonstrated ability to weld large equipment, heavy structural frames, and thick-gauge materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions
- Experience working to tight tolerances and maintaining dimensional accuracy on large assemblies
- Proficient in setting up and operating MIG and TIG welding machines, including adjusting voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed
- Experience with multi-pass welds, fillet welds, groove welds, and full-penetration welds
- Ability to operate fabrication equipment such as band saws, grinders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, and overhead cranes
- Knowledge of proper joint preparation, beveling, fit-up, and clamping techniques for large assemblies
- Ability to perform welds in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)
- Experience with fixture setup and welding large components to minimize distortion
- Ability to inspect welds visually and with basic measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares)
- Understanding of weld quality standards and ability to meet production and quality requirements
- Perform routine maintenance on fabrication equipment and cleaning work area
- Safely handle raw materials and finished parts using forklifts, hoists, or manual methods
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors
- Report missing material to supervisor for purpose to get material on order
- To carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job
- To work in other departments and locations as and when required
- To be prepared to work outside normal working hours, including weekends sometimes at short notice
