Whats unique about this job (What you’ll do) The Senior Data Engineer role sits at the intersection of enterprise architecture, regional operations, and modern data platforms. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will lead the technical design, governance, and evolution of data pipelines that integrate PriceSmart’s core enterprise platforms across multiple countries. This role is not just about delivery, it’s about setting standards, driving modernization, and mentoring engineers to build resilient, production-grade data systems at scale. You’ll partner closely with Enterprise Architecture, security, and product teams to ensure our data ecosystem is compliant, performant, and future-ready. What you’ll do
Lead the architecture and implementation of multi-country data integrations supporting platforms such as RELEX, GTM, ELERA, and e-commerce
Define, document, and enforce enterprise standards for data modeling, lineage, quality, and governance
Partner with Enterprise Architecture to align data frameworks with cloud, security, and integration strategy
Optimize data warehouse performance, monitoring, and FinOps cost governance
Design and oversee observability, alerting, and operational readiness for production pipelines
Lead code reviews and technical design discussions across regions
Mentor data engineers and contribute to PriceSmart’s Data Engineering playbook and best practices
Support cross-functional teams by translating complex business and operational needs into scalable data solutions Technical environment
Platforms: Snowflake, Informatica Cloud (CDI / CAI), dbt Cloud, Azure Fabric
Languages: SQL, Python (Scala a plus)
Tooling and practices: CI/CD pipelines, observability, lineage tools, FinOps dashboards, DataOps What success looks like
Consistent, high-quality data across countries and regions
Delivery of governed, reusable data models supporting enterprise analytics
Reduced latency and optimized cost per pipeline
Strong adoption of standards and architectural patterns

5–8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer working with enterprise-scale data platforms
Proven experience architecting and operating data pipelines across multiple systems or regions
Deep expertise in SQL and Python, with strong data modeling skills
Hands-on experience with Snowflake and Informatica Cloud in production environments
Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in regulated or multi-country contexts
Experience implementing CI/CD, DataOps, and observability practices for data platforms
Comfortable leading technical discussions and influencing architectural decisions
Able to mentor engineers and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders
Fluent in English and Spanish, with experience working in multicultural, distributed teams Some important intangibles
