- Write, edit, and proofread a wide range of materials including press releases, media advisories, feature stories, newsletters, website content, talking points, and social media copy
- Translate Department initiatives, programs, events, and policies into clear, compelling, and community-centered messaging
- Ensure consistency with Department branding, tone, and messaging standards
- Media & Public Affairs Support
- Assist with media outreach efforts, including drafting pitches and coordinating interviews
- Support preparation of press kits, media lists, and briefing materials
- Monitor and track media coverage related to Department initiatives

The Public Affairs and Community Engagement (PACE) Division is seeking a seasonal Media Specialist to support the Department of Parks and Recreation’s communications and marketing efforts through strong writing, storytelling, and media support. This position plays a key role in sharing the Department’s impact, programs, and services with residents, partners, and stakeholders across Prince George’s County.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer who understands how to translate government and community-focused work into clear, engaging, and accessible content that reflects the Department’s mission and brand.
