Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent knowledge/training) in Biology, Genomics, Computer Science or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Bioinformatics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with standard bioinformatics methods and tools, including sequencing databases, genome assemblers, and aligners.
  • Experience with parallel computing and the analysis of high-throughput genomic datasets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with programming languages including Python, R, and their application to statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to identify problems, troubleshoot, and demonstrate good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience organizing and presenting technical information to varying audiences.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including experience collaborating with an interdisciplinary research team in a multi-disciplinary scientific or production environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in Bioinformatics
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebooks, version control tools (eg., GitHub and GitLab), docker/singularity images, and workflow management systems such as WDL, Nextflow, and Snakemake.
  • Experience designing and maintaining robust, scalable analysis workflows supporting hundreds to thousands of samples.
Preferred Skills
  • A Master’s Degree (or equivalent knowledge/training) Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in Bioinformatics
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebooks, version control tools (eg., GitHub and GitLab), docker/singularity images, and workflow management systems such as WDL, Nextflow, and Snakemake.
  • Experience developing clear, informative user-facing reports for large-scale genomic datasets.
  • Demonstrated success in the design and implementation of data quality analyses, especially for new genomic assays and new laboratory protocols.
  • Experience designing and maintaining robust, scalable analysis workflows supporting hundreds to thousands of samples.
Education
  • (Required) – A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent knowledge/training) in Biology, Genomics, Computer Science or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Bioinformatics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
