Financial Analyst II, Month-End Close and Reporting

Responsibilities

On the finance/accounting team at Sutter Health, you'll prepare journal entries, perform monthly account reconciliations for Supply Chain-related GL accounts, and produce accurate and timely financial reports and statements. You will analyze variances against budget and prior periods, research and summarize variance drivers for stakeholders, and perform financial forecasting and analysis on operations, profitability, benchmarking, and resource utilization. You will also support leaders with annual operating and capital budgets, maintain and reconcile financial reporting/cost accounting systems, and assist with audit documentation and compliance while partnering with Finance, AP, and operational teams to validate data.

Commitments

This is a full-time, non-exempt hybrid role based in the Sacramento area, generally working 8-hour day shifts Monday through Friday with weekend work as needed and an expected 40 hours per week. You may need to go onsite in Sacramento occasionally, and compensation may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled.

Requirements
  • Typical Experience
  • 2 years recent relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of accounting and financial operations and processes.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of financial analysis principles, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting/financial systems and how it’s used in compiling, recording, maintaining accounting/financial transactions and information.
  • Ability to translate financial data & analysis into reports and presentations for appropriate audience.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory & legal requirements.
  • Ability to compute and apply basic mathematical functions and computations, including percentages, decimals and prorated amounts.
  • Critical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work with large data sets.
  • Organization skills and attention to details.
  • Displays a customer service focus in all decisions and actions.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to complete assignments accurately and timely, and to meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to communicate through verbal and written means.
Preferred Skills
  • Advanced Excel and SQL experience highly desired.
