Requirements
  • Must be able to travel for field trips and constructability reviews for up to a week at a time.
  • 10+ years of relevant post education experience as a certified high voltage lineman or substation wireman, and/or Professional Project Management (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Lineman or qualified construction manager experienced in high voltage transmission line systems from foundations to wire stringing, and access road routing and laydown location planning.
  • Thorough understanding of transmission line construction procedures, specifications, drawings, bill of materials, bid units and estimates.
  • Sound understanding of project delivery process within the high voltage industry and well-defined background and experience in project execution.
  • Competent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Excellent communication skills and competent with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
  • Understanding/experience of transmission/distribution line construction from layout, permitting, construction to energization.
  • Ability to work with or across multi disciplines (lands, Enviro, GIS and civil/line engineering).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Pass background check for Federal badging.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent health and safety training.
Preferred Skills
  • Pass background check for Federal badging.
  • Master's Degree.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or equivalent credential.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent health and safety training.
  • Prior experience with public-private partnership (P3) or alternative project delivery methods.
  • Experience managing construction programs in sectors such as transportation, energy, water, or buildings.
  • Active membership in CMAA, ASCE, DBIA, or related professional organizations.
Education
  • (Not required) – Bachelor’s degree in construction management or closely related discipline, or demonstrated proven equivalent experience.
  • (Not required) – 10+ years of relevant post education experience as a certified high voltage lineman or substation wireman, and/or Professional Project Management (PMP) certification or equivalent.
