Senior Expense Management Analyst

Responsibilities

On this financial planning and analysis role at Zurich Insurance, you’ll deliver executive-ready expense reports and presentations, communicate financial insights to senior leaders, and build and run a performance-management framework to track progress against key financial metrics. You’ll lead and support operating, strategic and profitability reviews, manage CAPEX and OPEX investment spend with proper classification and compliance, and perform detailed financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. You’ll also define data requirements, support cross-functional initiatives with complex analysis, and partner with peers to provide data-driven insights that optimize operating expenses and unlock efficiencies.

Commitments

This is a full-time, hybrid role (three days per week in person) based in Schaumburg, IL, with additional location options in Chicago and New York, and does not offer employment sponsorship.

Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area
  • Knowledge of insurance (P&C/Life business) expense drivers and unit economics.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; proven analytical problem solving and the ability to synthesise complex data.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS standards and investment accounting (CAPEX/OPEX/amortization).
Preferred Skills
  • AN MBA and/or CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of insurance (P&C/Life business) expense drivers and unit economics.
  • Expertise in analytics, cost‑benefit analysis and automation of non‑value‑add tasks.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; proven analytical problem solving and the ability to synthesise complex data.
  • Experience with ERP/planning tools (SAP/Oracle/Anaplan) and Coupa; comfortable driving tool and process enhancements.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS standards and investment accounting (CAPEX/OPEX/amortization).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to influence without authority and collaborate across functions.
  • Detail oriented, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
Education
