Requirements
  • Completion of a medical assistant program or successful completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Experience as a back office medical assistant.
  • EKG skills.
  • Phlebotomy, basic lab skills.
  • Medication administration to include oral, topical and injections.
  • Clinical procedures within scope of practice for medical assistant.
  • Administrative procedures within scope for practice for medical assistant.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain good film quality.
  • Accuracy.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working in an electronic medical record system, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal relationship and customer service skills.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills.
  • Service-oriented with ability to adapt to changing workload and pace.
  • Ability to maintain favorable patient and guest relations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently and proactively.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision and make sound assessments and judgments within scope of practice.

  • Current American Heart Association approved CPR certification required.
  • MA certification required upon hire, or within one year of hire, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for C ompetency Testing (NCCT) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
  • Certification may be required upon hire, depending on the needs of the department.
  • Washington Only
  • Washington State certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified or Interim Medical Assistant-Certified required, including completion of required Washington State AIDS training. (This requirement applies also to employees who float into the role.)
Preferred Skills
  • One-year experience, preferred.
  • MA certification required upon hire, or within one year of hire, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for C ompetency Testing (NCCT) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
  • AAMA preferred.
  • Certification may be required upon hire, depending on the needs of the department.
