WORK LOCATION: This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required. Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs. BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED: All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check and some positions require clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process. DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED: All Bastion employees must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and are required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings. STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS: All of Bastion's employees must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented. Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives. Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements. Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time). Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical. Experience in EMI test setups including required support equipment with the knowledge of chamber test Antennas, test electronic equipment and bonding/grounding setups.
Master of Science or PhD degree from an accredited institution.
General knowledge of and basic hands-on experience with all associated EMI/EMC laboratory test equipment including: Spectrum Analyzers, Radiofrequency (RF) Amplifiers, Signal Generators, EMI Receivers, Antennas, Directional Couplers, and Power Meters.
Understanding of and ability to specify electronic system test hardware such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers, network components etc.
Understanding of key areas which comprise of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems including: radiated emissions, electrostatic discharge (ESD), susceptibility to RF fields, power disturbances and internal crosstalk.
Experience reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, and mechanical designs for applying electromagnetic design mitigation.
Ability to create test plans and write test reports per customer requirements.
Certification in iNARTE EMC/EMI engineer or similar.
Experience with filtering, bonding, grounding, and shielding methods for EMI/EMC performance and compliance.
Experience with analysis tools such as SPICE, Matlab and Simulink, Mathcad, LabVIEW, and other EMI/EMC simulation and analysis tools.
Experience with generating EMI/EMC Control and Verification Plans.
Previous experience with NASA spaceflight project development.
Experience in MIL-STD analysis of EMI testing results of Radiated and Conducted emissions and susceptibility.
Experience in EMI test setups including required support equipment with the knowledge of chamber test Antennas, test electronic equipment and bonding/grounding setups.
Experience in charging analysis of corona effects, and plasma effects; including, lightning protection, and bonding and grounding techniques.

Education

(Required) – Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or physics .
(Not required) – Coursework in electromagnetic (EM) fields and/or electronic design.
(Not required) – Master of Science or PhD degree from an accredited institution.
(Not required) – Certification in iNARTE EMC/EMI engineer or similar.

The EMI/EMC Analysis, Design, and Test Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, TX .

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager as part of a group of 45 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.
Work with NASA engineers and industry partners to support spaceflight avionics systems.
Assist in planning, executing, and analyzing EMI/EMC tests on electronic hardware at NASA JSC and external facilities.
Contribute to test plans, procedures, and reports, while learning from experienced EMI/EMC engineers.
Support design reviews, risk assessments, and system integration across avionics, power, RF, and mechanical teams.
Gain hands-on experience with test equipment, circuit design reviews, and EMI/EMC compliance methods.
Learn and apply industry and NASA standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461) to real-world projects.
Other duties as assigned.

Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
Coursework in electromagnetic (EM) fields and/or electronic design.

Sound knowledge of and experience in EMI/EMC compliance design and testing per MIL STD-461 and MIL-STD-464 standards for electrical/electronic systems.
Basic understanding of RF design, circuit theory, and electromagnetic principles including: component and cable shielding, filters, magnetics, microwaves and antennas.
Experience with Satellite Space Systems or Spacecraft Vehicle design and test.
Experience with filtering, bonding, grounding, and shielding methods for EMI/EMC performance and compliance.
Experience with analysis tools such as SPICE, Matlab and Simulink, Mathcad, LabVIEW, and other EMI/EMC simulation and analysis tools.
