What still needs stronger evidence
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience (frontend or full-stack).
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and solid, language-agnostic engineering fundamentals.
- Experience building and shipping modern React applications (state management, component architecture, performance).
- Experience building backend APIs and services (e.g., Node/TypeScript, Python, or similar), including authentication, pagination, and versioned contracts.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database fundamentals, including data modeling and performance tradeoffs.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: design patterns, testing, debugging, and maintainability.
- Familiarity with modern web tooling and best practices (e.g., Vite/Webpack, REST/GraphQL, CI/CD, browser devtools).
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting macOS and web workflows in a multi-platform environment.
- Experience building internal tools or developer tools, especially for AI/ML/data workflows.
- Comfort working with data-heavy products; ability to empathize with practitioners in ML, data engineering, or quantitative research.
- An eye for visual and interaction design, with an emphasis on simplicity.
- Python proficiency (or strong willingness to ramp quickly), especially for integrating with data/ML pipelines and services.
- Experience with SQL, databases, and data pipelines (enough to reason about performance and data modeling).
- Experience with background jobs/queues and async processing (e.g., workers for exports, indexing, thumbnails, etc.).
- Experience with cloud or on-prem deployment patterns.
- Interest in photography and image quality, and curiosity about how teams evaluate and improve imaging outputs.
- A continuous learning mindset and enthusiasm for exploring new tools and technologies.
About the role At GLASS, we are driving the future of camera technology with cutting-edge AI-powered image processing algorithms. At the heart of our innovation is a sophisticated camera characterization process, leveraging thousands of captured images to achieve unparalleled image quality. We are seeking a talented and experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to own and develop end-to-end features for a suite of internal and external-facing tools. From UI/UX and frontend architecture to backend APIs, data models, and deployment, you’ll take features from concept to delivery, partnering with cross-functional teams to design intuitive, reliable products that help teams move faster and deliver better outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders across the organization to understand workflows, translate requirements into polished user experiences, and build scalable systems across the stack. This interdisciplinary role will challenge you to continuously learn and apply new technologies as you strengthen the software infrastructure that powers day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is a strong product-minded engineer who can architect, design and implement aesthetic and performant web applications and is comfortable building APIs, services, data flows, and tooling that power great user experiences. If you’re passionate about building critical tools in a fast-paced environment and enjoy solving complex problems across multiple domains, we’d love to hear from you. Responsibilities
