Responsibilities
- Entry level maintenance worker that reports to the Assistant Public Works Director and receives daily assignments consisting of general maintenance labor and operation of light duty equipment.
- Performs general maintenance work on streets, traffic signs, storm sewers, right-of-way clean-up and mowing, and City parks.
- May operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader, and tractor with end loader as necessitated by weather conditions.
- May operate tractor with mowing attachments.
- Performs daily preventive maintenance on equipment he/she is to operate.
- Performs related work and other duties as required and assigned.
- General knowledge of construction procedures with respect to street maintenance and repair.
- Thorough knowledge of the State laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles on the highways.
- Necessary knowledge to perform routine maintenance on equipment he/she is operating.
- Skill and care in the operation of motor vehicles.
Commitments
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods and at times under adverse weather or working conditions.
Ability to respond to emergency situations at any time, day or night, with no restrictions.
The City will pay and/or train the employee if needed.
Ability to drive at night with no restrictions.
Must be able to be insured and remain insurable by the City’s insurance carrier if the position requires driving.
The City may either select or waive certain certification requirements, based upon the needs of the City, in certain disciplines related to this position.
