Requirements
  • This role requires strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment and/or water treatment, engineering, principles and methods of scientific research, current advances in the field of water reclamation and groundwater replenishment, computer hardware and software applications for the operation of an advanced water reclamation facility, general administrative principles and practices, and methods of supervision
  • Must have detailed and comprehensive knowledge of various treatment processes and associated equipment including conventional and advanced water and/or wastewater treatment, microfiltration, reverse osmosis, ozone, uv, nitrification, solids handling and all supporting processes
  • Complete written and electronic records (i.e., work orders, calibration sheets, timecards, material requests) required to document work in progress and work completed.
  • 10 years of experience with PLCs and VFDs
  • Experience with Parker drives
  • Network experience with switches and Ethernet IP
  • Experience in modifying HMIs
  • Experience with tuning PIDs
  • Experience with winding machines
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, motor control and VFDs
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other components connected to those systems
  • Ability to read, and interpret P&ID's and wiring diagrams to locate, identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant systems, interlocks, etc
  • Ability to work with a variety of groups to diagnose equipment malfunction in a timely manner
  • Experience with installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing electronic and electrical components of equipment and machinery
  • Experience with installing conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards, controllers, and switches required in making minor additions, extensions or alterations in industrial electrical systems
  • Experience recognizing safety hazards and ability to follow safety guidelines for personal protection and protection of fellow workers
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed, including after hours
  • Ability to participate in plant shutdowns as needed, including holidays and weekends
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with no major infractions required
  • Safety is of the utmost importance.
  • The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction.
  • In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision as well as the ability to distinguish color and shades.
  • Technical dexterity is required in performing chemical and instrumental analytical procedures.
Preferred Skills
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with no major infractions required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills in the English language (written, verbal, inter-personal)
  • The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required.
