The Multitudes Project Manager will serve as a key operational leader for UCSF’s statewide initiative focused on early literacy and dyslexia screening, bridging neuroscience and public education. This full-time, fixed-term role (with potential for renewal) is responsible for managing complex project planning, coordinating across functional areas, and implementing technical solutions in partnership with the California Department of Education, UC campuses, public schools, and technology vendors. Reporting to the COO and collaborating closely with product, research, engineering, and outreach teams, the Project Manager will ensure timely delivery of project work, alignment with stakeholder goals, and long-term sustainability of the Multitudes platform. The role demands strong project management experience—ideally in education, healthcare, or academic environments—along with excellent operational skills and fluency in working with technical teams. Responsibilities include tracking milestones, managing vendor relationships, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring effective communication across a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic and evolving setting.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $80,200 - $120,300 (Annual Rate).

The UCSF Dyslexia Center developed and continues to maintain and innovate a digital platform, called Multitudes. Free for all California public schools, this platform aids in the early identification of kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students who may face challenges learning to read. Early identification can lead to early intervention. With the right support, more California students can learn to read, leading to more equitable educational and health outcomes.
Multitudes and the UCSF Dyslexia Center are part of the ALBA Language Neurobiology laboratory, directed by Dr. Maria Luisa Gorno Tempini. Located in the UCSF Neurology Department’s Memory and Aging Center, the ALBA Lab studies how language is organized into brain networks across the lifespan. Our group researches how language skills and brain regions are impacted by neurological conditions and how they reorganize in response. Our multidisciplinary team correlates behavioral research with multimodal neuroimaging techniques to understand the neural underpinning of higher cognitive functions such as speech, language, and memory. In particular, we research two syndromes: Primary Progressive Aphasia and Dyslexia. Dr. Gorno Tempini is also co-director of the UCSF|UC Berkeley Schwab Center for Dyslexia and Cognitive Diversity. Together with the UCSF Dyslexia Center, these centers aim to eliminate the debilitating effects of developmental dyslexia while supporting the relative strengths of each individual. We develop best practice protocols to assess and diagnose children with dyslexia and other learning differences through a multimodal cognitive and neuroimaging program. We work closely with schools and educators to develop early interventions and educational strategies to help children with dyslexia thrive.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s in relevant field such as education, neuroscience, public health, or public policy.
Minimum three years managing operations or programs in research, education, healthcare, or technology settings and minimum three years of experience r equivalent combination of experience/education
At least 2 years working with technical teams (developers, product managers, data engineers).
Proven experience managing cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders across institutions or public-sector agencies.
Skilled in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira, Smartsheet) and collaboration platforms (e.g., Google Workspace , Slack, Zoom, GitHub).
Experience managing budgets and vendor contracts.
Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable leading and actively participating in meetings, including agenda creation, recaps, and follow-up.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Professionalism and enthusiasm for collaborating with a diverse team.
Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in in relevant fields such as education, neuroscience, public health, or public policy.
Certifications like Project Management Professional (PMP)
Experience in K–12 or higher education, education policy, and/or educational technology.
Knowledge of accessibility compliance (e.g., WCAG), data privacy, and education interoperability standards (e.g., Ed-Fi, 1EdTech).
Experience managing programs funded by government grants or philanthropic foundations.
Familiarity with dyslexia, learning differences, and/or neurodiversity in educational contexts.
Prior experience working across UC campuses or large academic institutions.
