Responsibilities
- The Building Services staff member is responsible for keeping areas of the museum's indoor premises in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties:
- Cleaning and polishing light fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
- Cleaning galleries, classrooms, offices, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, lounges, and other work areas as assigned.
- Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors.
- Cleaning rugs and carpets.
- Dusting furniture and equipment.
- Polishing metalwork.
- Washing walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
- Washing windows, door panels, and sills.
- Emptying wastebaskets.
- Transporting trash and waste to disposal area.
- Cleaning bathrooms and replenishing supplies.
- Assisting with museum special events as needed.
- This may include setting up and taking down tables and chairs; emptying trash containers; and cleaning area before and after event takes place.
- It may also require remaining on call throughout an event in case services are needed.
- Moving office furniture and equipment as needed.
- Performing other special projects as assigned by Group Leader or Supervisor of Building Services.
