Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree in Health Information Management AND Registration as a Health Information Technician (RHIT).
  • It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position.
  • The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.
  • The incumbent compiles and maintains clinical records of residents in the Regional Centers to document residents’ condition and treatment.
  • Establishes and maintains purging cycle for clinical records, assuring that records are maintained for a minimum of seven years following a resident’s discharge or death.
  • Completes clinical records within 30 days of discharge.
  • Knowledge Of
  • Rules, regulations, laws, and guidelines governing the maintenance and release of medical record information, such as HIPAA.
  • Ability to:
  • Work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within a long term care facility.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Operate a computer to process, store, and retrieve health information.
  • Residency: Allegheny County within 1 year.
